Language requirement

A minumum Spanish language level of B1 is unconditionally required to be accepted to the USM exchange program. This is only applicable to non-native speakers of the language. Level based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages or CEFR.

Incoming international exchange applicants with A2 level will be accepted conditionally, upon enrollment and comitment of completion of the Intensive Spanish Course that begins before the start of the academic semester.

The language level can be certified by one of the following options:

  1. Must have completed Spanish  studies at high school or university level for at least three semesters, achieving a B1 level at the end (or, conditionally, an A2 level). In this case, the person who coordinates exchanges or coordinates Spanish/languages faculty/department of your university, must fill out and sign the Language Requirement Form, as proof of your Spanish level.
  2. Take and present the certificate of an international language proficiency test such as DELE, SIELE or CELU in which a B1 level is reached (or for conditional acceptance, level A2) is achieved.
