Intensive Spanish Course – 50 hours
USM offers intensive Spanish courses, during the months of February and July, for students who need to improve their language skills.
This two-week course is open to anyone who is interested and is especially recommended for students who will be doing an academic period at the University, as it will be held right before the start of each semester.
It is only offered at the Casa Central Valparaíso Campus (Click here to check out our beautiful main campus). If you are coming to the USM for an exchange period and are planning to attend another campus afterwards, it will be important to take this into account.
50 lective hours of class (25 hours per subject).
1 USM lective hour equals 35 minutes.
50 hours do not include the study hours aside.

Includes: 2 sightseeing walks (Viña del Mar and Valparaíso), bay tour, museum visit and welcome reception.
Upon completition of the course, you will receive a certificate indicating the level of Spanish reached and the number of hours of classes

**This course does not consider academic credits.**
Each semester, international students who wish to improve or perfect their Spanish may enroll in Spanish courses for free, as part of the semester’s academic offer. This course is offered in at least one level according to the results of the diagnostic test of those who wish to participate.
Before the semester starts, DAI will conduct Spanish assessment test. This test will help us place you at the appropriate level of the Spanish course, in case you want to enroll during your exchange semester.
If you are coming as an exchange student from one of the Universities with which the USM has an agreement, this semester course has no additional cost as it will be part of your semester academic load
