INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS: Intensive Course (June 2020)

The Office of International Affairs offers a unique three-week intensive course in International Logistics for our international partners seeking to give their students hands-on experience in this credit-bearing course.

Course Description: Study the fundamentals of design, planning, and operation of logistics systems with emphasis on modeling and technology.

Course Objectives: Students will be familiarized with the basic concepts of product distribution and the terminology used in logistic systems. Students will be able to design effective product distribution and transportation systems as well as discuss methods of logistics management.

Topics:

Introduction to supply chains

Designing distribution networks

Facility location

Strategic alliances and outsourcing strategies

Designing transportation systems

Information technology

Decision-support systems

Case studies

Field Visits:

Seaport of Valparaíso

Technical visits to two local companies

Cultural visits:

Isla Negra, Santiago, and Valparaíso

Guest Lectures

Fruit Industry

Environmental Challenges

Energy Issues in Chile

 

Language of instruction : English

Oriented to : Engineering majors

 

Tuition: US$1550; includes class time, field trips and lectures as indicated above + ground transportation from/to the airport (for a group, not individually). It does not include airfare.

Housing:  US$420 for three weeks. Homestay with local families, full board & room.
